Old picure postcards of Brandenburg Germany

Brandenburg is one of Germany's sixteen Bundesländer (federal states). It lies in the eastern part of Germany. The capital is Potsdam. Brandenburg surrounds but does not include the German capital Berlin.

The former Prussian, Brandenburg, is bordered by Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the north, the Oder River and Poland in the east, the Free State of Saxony in the south, Saxony-Anhalt in the west, and Lower Saxony in the northwest.

Brandenburg is divided into fourteen (rural) counties (Landkreise), and four urban districts (kreisfreie Städte).

Brandenburg is known for its well-preserved natural environment and has a number of officially recognised national parks, nature parks and special reserves. Brandenburg is blessed with more than 3,000 lakes and 30,000 km of watercourses. Brandenburg is an almost perfect location for anyone interested in wildlife and the great outdoors, and makes a great vacation spot.

Our site currently consists largely of scans of old picture postcards and vintage photographs of the places of interest, villages, towns and cities of Brandenburg. The gazetteer section of the website will focus to begin with will be on the east of Brandenburg, that which borders with the Polish province of Lubuskie.
